FRANKLIN, Massachusetts — The Bishop Feehan High School community is mourning the tragic loss of Oliver Lewis, a 15-year-old student who died after being struck while riding his bicycle in Franklin on Tuesday afternoon.

Lewis, who was identified as a rising sophomore at the Attleboro-based high school, was remembered by school officials as a valued member of the community whose sudden passing has brought grief to classmates, educators, and families.

Bishop Feehan President Tim Sullivan confirmed the loss in a message to the school community, expressing support for Oliver’s family and those affected by the tragedy.

“Our entire Feehan community is praying with and for Oliver and his family,” Sullivan said.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. near King Street and the Interstate 495 North off-ramp. According to Franklin police, officers and firefighters responded after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a collision involving a juvenile bicyclist.

First responders immediately began providing emergency medical care at the scene before Lewis was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center. Despite efforts to save his life, he was later pronounced dead.

Police said the driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.

News of Lewis’s death has deeply affected residents in the Franklin community, many of whom expressed shock and sadness over the loss of a teenager with so much life ahead of him.

Neighbors near King Street described the incident as heartbreaking, emphasizing the tragedy of losing someone at such a young age.

“Fifteen, too young. He should have had his own life ahead of him,” resident Cynthia Mulvey said.

“You’re always going to see cars speeding down this way to try to get where they are,” neighbor Nipun Goel said.

Another community member, Terry Henning, said she initially believed emergency crews were responding to a crash involving multiple vehicles before learning a bicyclist had been involved.

The tragedy has prompted an outpouring of support for the Lewis family, with classmates, teachers, neighbors, and community members sharing condolences and reflecting on Oliver’s life.
